Sustainability Maturity Gradient
HRCarbon’s Sustainability Maturity Gradient (SMG) is a unique approach we employ to assess your organization’s current sustainability status and chart the path to improve corporate performance.
HRCarbon’s SMG has been developed employing years of experience working with senior management in companies of varied visions, sizes and industries.
The SMG is the structure based on a concept of developing a matrix of sustainability information derived from an organization’s stakeholder communications.
Maturity Levels’ on the Sustainability Maturity Gradient:
The cells within the matrix will identify the relative maturity level of its stakeholder communications
The organization may be evaluated on initiatives such as:
Strategy (for Sustainability), where the evaluation finds that based on the HRCarbon SMG they are within Compliance since “Sustainability Enters into discussion, but is only incorporated to meet compliance requirements.”
Management Approach (for Sustainability), where the evaluation finds that based on the HRCarbon SMG they are Beyond Compliance since “Executive team member recognizes potential opportunity and supports hobby sustainability initiatives”
Carbon Footprint, where the evaluation finds that based on the HRCarbon SMG they are in a Competitive Sustainability category since “Carbon footprint of part of the organization or line of business” has been undertaken
Legal (position on Regulatory requirements), where the evaluation finds that based on the HRCarbon SMG they are in Compliance since “Senior Management leads compliance based initiatives”
HRCarbon employs the SMG and the Sustainability Management and Reporting Framework (SMRF) to derive key Sustainability Informatics—data, analytics, and best practices—to improve corporate sustainability. Sustainability Informatics transforms corporate sustainability practices by analyzing, designing, implementing, and evaluating information and communication systems that enhance corporate non-financial performance, improve business processes and strengthen the corporate-stakeholder relationship.
